Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
